La Tur – One of my favorite Italian cheeses. It’s rich and creamy with the right amount of salt. Coming from Piemonte, Italy with a blend of cow, goat, and sheep’s milk. It has a really nice moist texture and is easily spreadable on bread. I have to catch myself whenever I visit my cheesemonger…this is by far one of my go-to cheeses. If it weren’t for the sake of trying different cheeses, I’d probably purchase this little nugget on each visit.
Cacciatore – Here we have a dry salami that is seasoned with chile, black pepper, and other spices. This pork sausage is considered hunter’s style, which goes back to an old Italian story that hunter’s carried this sausage as a snack on long hunting trips. True or not true, keep this in your fridge and you’ll be thankful for this superbly spiced hunter’s invention.
Cannellini & Albacore Insalata – Adding to the Italian theme is a light Cannellini Bean with Albacore Tuna Salad. In a small bowl I mixed one can of drained cannellini beans with one can of drained albacore tuna. Then I tossed it together with freshly squeezed lemon juice and extra virgin olive oil, adding a little salt and pepper to taste. At the very end, I tossed in a few spinach leaves and capers. Brooklyn, EAT your heart out!
